National
Assessment of Adult Literacy 2002
The NAAL 2002 will assess the current status of
the English-language literacy skills of adults in
the United States, as well as indicate how literacy
proficiencies have changed over time. Reports, sources
and information about the NAAL '92 are all available
here. The National Assessments of Adult Literacy
(NAAL) are the only nationally representative and
continuing assessment of English language literacy
skills of American adults. They seek to: describe
the status of adult literacy in the United States;
report on national trends; and identify relationships
between literacy and selected characteristics of
adults.
The
National Center for the Study of Adult Learning
and Literacy (NCSALL)
The goal is to help adult basic education define
a comprehensive research agenda, to pursue basic
and applied research, to build partnerships between
researchers and practitioners, and to disseminate
research and best practices to practitioners, scholars,
and policy makers.
The
National Center for Education Statistics
NCES studies cover the entire educational spectrum,
providing the facts and figures needed to help policymakers
understand the condition of education in the nation
today, to give researchers a foundation of data
to build upon, and to help teachers and administrators
decide on best practices for their schools.
