Learning Resource Center (LRC)

The LRC assists students and teachers in a variety of services as a way to increase student achievement.  LRC staff collaborate with teachers to provide students with computer skills either on an individual basis or for an entire class. A new mobile computer lab allows for the computers to be brought into the classroom to help students and teachers integrate technology into the curriculum.  Students receive assistance with both educational and vocational skills, as well as technology.  To address the life skill needs of students, LRC staff offer work readiness skills such as resume writing, job search, keyboarding, e-mail and Internet search.  Specialized software is available such as Rosetta Stone, Typing Master, My Reading Coach, My Skills Tutor, Lexia, Fluent Reader and the Onet Interest Profiler.

To promote literacy and encourage the enjoyment of reading, the Learning Resource Center created a reading corner for students’ use.  This is an area within the classroom where the pleasure of reading and the comfort of home come together.  Relaxing in soft arm chairs, in a quiet atmosphere, students are able to sit and read.  The small library of books is also available for students to “check out.”
