College Preparatory Program: “Bridge to College”

The Bridge-to-College Program offers low income, first-generation adults an opportunity to take a tuition-free one-semester class at the Community College of Rhode Island, as a starting point for a college career.

Students also receive, at no charge, textbooks, supplies, tutoring, mentoring, computer access, admissions assistance and support. After completing the semester long Bridge Program, students are prepared for full-time enrollment the following semester.

Dorcas Place offers "Bridge to College" services to students currently enrolled at Dorcas Place as well as to students from the community at large.

We offer:

• College visits and tours as well as cultural trips
• Admission and financial aid application assistance
• Detailed educational and career planning

Articulation agreements with the Community College of Rhode Island and other post- secondary education institutions ensure campus support services that continue to be available to Bridge students.  After a successful program in Providence, the Bridge Program has expanded to CCRI in Newport!

Eligibility requirements include completion of the student's GED or high school diploma. After completing the semester long Bridge Program, students are prepared for full-time enrollment the following semester.
